Apple and cinnamon flapjacks.

I often have a sweet tooth requirement! but I’m trying to eat less sugar. I’m trialling a few different ideas and today am making flapjacks with freshly picked apples and a little honey to sweeten .  These are easy to make and a lovely ‘apple pie’ tasting treat which you can eat without feeling too guilty!

Put the oven on 180c. Lightly grease and baseline a square baking tin (approx 7″ square).

Melt the butter in a pan. Peel, quarter and blend the apples in a blender and add to the pan with 3 Tbs honey and a heaped teaspoon of cinnamon.  Mix in the oats and stir until everything is combined.

Puréed apples for flapjacks

Puréeing the apples gives a nice consistency to the flapjacks.

Put into the prepared tin and bake for 20 minutes. When cool cut into squares and remove from the tin. Enjoy with a nice cup of tea. Perfect on a rainy day! Or to take in your lunchbox for work tomorrow!
