May has been a great month of new discoveries. From a favourite new hot chocolate shop to the wonders at the Chelsea Flower Show. Best of all is dusting Bella off and taking her out for a drive! And the vegetables are growing in the garden and we’ve had two Bank Holidays!

Elderflower strawberry meringue cream!
Based on the great meringue picnic disaster at Eton this lovely summery dessert couldn’t be easier to make and is enhanced with the scent and taste of elderflowers.
I love the scent of elderflowers in the house when making cordial, (there’s definitely a candle fragrance to be made by someone who knows how!)
Quinoa with bright green summer veg and feta
I was inspired by Jamie Oliver’s superfood salad YouTube clip that I watched on the train back from London yesterday, so when I got back home I had a ferret around to see what ingredients I could use up based on this high protein salad.
Strawberry jam ice cream!
Oh so simple and so tasty. The perfect quick dessert for a sweet English treat. Glorious strawberry ice cream with fresh English strawberries.
I bought a pot of delicious strawberry jam in the Cowdray Farm Shop on my day trip yesterday. What’s especially nice about it is it’s high strawberry content – 81%. It inspired a quick dessert! Ready in no time. Continue reading
Lovely lemon cake!
Couldn’t be easier. A lovely treat for tea and ready in no time. Pop the kettle on and make this quick bake.
A splendid day out!
I was lucky enough to be invited to the Chelsea Flower Show, so much to enjoy, so great to see people who are passionate about what they produce.
I take the opportunity whilst in London to book theatre tickets to see the truly wonderful production of The Audience.
So quick poached salmon, so worth it!
Really there is no excuse not to poach your own salmon as it is so quick to do and really so delicious. You can flavour it with your favourite herbs. So guys, no excuse! This is seriously quick healthy home cooking.

Bella visits Rye
I only need the merest hint of a reason to suggest driving Bella our Fiat down to Rye and today was such a day, good weather! Fine and sunny, the prospect of a hot chocolate for breakfast at the truly fabulous Knoops, lunch at The George in Rye and a walk on Camber Sands. What could be better! We pack our quite giant Labrador, Lily, into the back and off we go.
